What is my IP address?

Checking your public IP…
Your IP address—
Country—
Internet provider—
Region—
City—

This is the public IP from which your browser reaches the address lookup service. When you are connected through a VPN, it may be the address of the VPN server. The result is not a full diagnosis of the VPN, DNS or WebRTC.

Country and city are determined from an IP address database and may differ from the real location of the server.

The page asks for an IPv4 address first. If there is none, the address that is available is shown (possibly IPv6). IPv4 and IPv6 are not diagnosed at the same time.

What is an IP address?

An IP address (Internet Protocol address) is a unique set of numbers assigned to your device when it connects to the internet. It works like a postal address: it lets data find its way to you when you open a website, send an email or stream a video.

Your IP address can reveal your approximate location, your internet provider and the type of network you are on. That is why it matters for your privacy: anyone you connect to can see it, and it can be used to track your activity across sites. Changing the visible IP does not cancel identification through your account, cookies and other browser data.

How to change your visible IP address

Four steps with Kaveo VPN:

1

Open your account

Sign in or register in your personal account.

2

Get the app

The app for your device (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Linux, Android TV or Google TV) is issued in your account.

3

Use the free access

The first 8 hours are free, no card required; see the conditions in your account. Choosing a plan is a separate, later step.

4

Connect and compare

Open VolnaLink, sign in with the same email address, choose a country and connect. Then check again and compare the address.

Compare the address shown above with the one you saw before connecting. A plan can be chosen later, after the free period.

Why hide your IP address

Stronger privacy

Websites see the address of the VPN server instead of your own IP. Identification through your account, cookies and other browser data remains.

Public Wi-Fi

On open networks in cafés, airports and hotels other users of the network can see less about your traffic when a VPN is connected.

Less tracking by address

Hiding your IP makes tracking by address harder; it does not stop tracking through cookies and browser data.

Your choice of country

Choose an available connection country in the app and check the result on this page.

IPv4 and IPv6 — what is the difference?

What is IPv4?

IPv4 is the original and still most common addressing format. An IPv4 address is four groups of numbers from 0 to 255, separated by dots — for example, 192.168.0.1. This 32-bit format allows about 4.3 billion unique addresses, which the growth of connected devices has nearly used up.

What is IPv6?

IPv6 is the newer format created to solve the shortage of IPv4 addresses. It uses 128-bit addressing — eight groups of four hexadecimal digits separated by colons, for example 2001:0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334 — giving a practically unlimited number of addresses, plus improvements in routing and security.

Frequently asked questions

Is my IP address being tracked?+

Potentially yes. Every site you visit sees your IP, and it can be logged and combined with other data to track your activity. A VPN replaces your visible IP with the server's.

How can I change my visible IP address?+

Choose another available country or location in the app and connect again. Then refresh the page and compare the address. A new connection does not necessarily give a new IP.

Is it OK to change my IP with a VPN?+

Yes. A VPN encrypts the connection between your device and the VPN server. Check the privacy policy of the service to see what data it stores.

What is a private IP?+

A private IP (like 192.168.x.x) is used inside your home or office network and is not visible on the public internet. The IP shown on this page is your public IP.

Will a VPN slow down my connection?+

The effect depends on your network, device and the chosen country. Measure it yourself with and without the connection.
